Therapies & Services

Every individual who enters our care will receive an individualized treatment plan, based in our holistic, multidisciplinary approach towards treatment. Our treatment plan is made up of effective, evidence-based therapeutic modalities administered to each individual based around their needs and strengths as they build towards long term recovery. Much of the treatment engages group therapy, and throughout recovery you will be surrounded with individuals with similar problems, facing the same challenges, and seeking the same opportunities for change. It is during recovery where you will be provided with not only the tools and skills to overcome your addiction, but the knowledge and experience of how and when to uses these tools on your way to long term recovery.

Group Therapy

We engage with group therapy, a proven therapeutic modality for addiction treatment, at all levels of care. Addiction is isolating.  Creating connections with those around you can break you free from the cycles of active addiction, and help you learn to take on challenges of life.

Group therapy sessions are led by our certified, experienced therapists and addiction counselors. Groups provide a safe place to express and process feelings, a community to share your challenges and experiences with and a resource for building the life skills and coping strategies you will need as you create a life for yourself beyond your imagination.

Recreational Therapy

Recreational therapy covers a variety of activities chosen to support your recovery.  There is plenty to explore around our facility. Venturing out into the community for physical stimulation can open new avenues to explore the mental and spiritual sides of addiction. Trips will be supervised by your therapy team, who will help you engage with the world outside of your addiction.

These trips might have a social, spiritual or cultural focus. Exploring the Toledo Art Museum or other local cultural landmarks can open dialogues about yourself and your recovery. Nature walks, hiking and trips to the quarry are shared experiences that you can celebrate. Animal therapy provides an outlet for stress and boosts recovery.

Expressive Therapy

Expressive therapy is a modality that we employ as part of your treatment plan. Guided by your therapists, groups will get the opportunity to explore the creative arts. Tapping into your creativity and imagination can help you express yourself in a way that is not strictly verbal. Introspection through art can help you explore the feelings, stresses and traumas that you struggle with, bringing them to light so you can build the skills you will need for success.

Trauma Focused

Addiction and trauma are intertwined. Effective therapy must address any underlying traumas head-on, to begin dealing with them and spur recovery. Your therapists will guide you through the processing of these traumas, and help you focus on addressing and overcoming these events. Facing your past and reclaiming your future will help you build for future successes. Trauma counseling is available in individual and smaller group settings, our trained and experienced staff will modify and adapt your program to directly fit your needs.

Motivational Interviewing

Your therapy team will lead you in setting short term and long term goals, so that you can affirmatively take steps towards positive change. You begin by considering your own strengths and motivations, and identifying areas where you need to find solutions, so you can begin working on the skills you will need for long term recovery.

Positive affirmation and progress will keep you moving forward. The cycle of addiction can create hopelessness or deep despair. You will make progress towards regaining control of your life, with the support of your therapists and your peers, and start to regain control over your life.

Case Management

Addiction takes over your life. The cycles of active addiction can create legal or professional issues. Your case management team will help you tackle these issues head-on. Our team is equipped with a wealth of knowledge and a number of resources to help you.

Any obstacle that stands in your way, we can help. Recovery means returning to a productive rhythm. We will give you the tools. During treatment we encourage every individual to return to work, restart their education or start training for your next opportunity.

Family Therapy

Addiction is a family disease; we are committed to working with every client and their loved ones to establish healthy strategies for healing, setting healthy boundaries and dealing with family issues head-on. Groups focus on examining the family system, and identifying changes that can allow you to heal broken relationships and begin moving forward.

We also offer support for family members at every level of care. We provide psycho-education about the disease of addiction, and will work directly with your family on setting healthy boundaries and identifying strategies so that your family can begin to heal. We believe that families recover too.

Co-occurring Diagnosis

Co-occurring substance abuse, often called a dual diagnosis, describes a situation where an individual suffers from both substance abuse and one or more mental health disorders. Our therapy team will assess your needs, and treat you as an individual, rooting out the dangerous cycles of mental health and substance abuse so that we can help you heal.

Co-occurring disorders can be debilitating. At every level of care, we have staff on site, working on your needs. Psychiatric care is available, and you will have access to the correct psychotropic medication that will allow you to function. You will break the harmful cycles that have overtaken your life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an accepted modality in treating addiction. CBT addresses the way addiction disrupts natural rhythms in what is called the “reward circuit” in the brain. Substance abuse is often an unhealthy coping method to deal with trauma, stress or other pitfalls of life. CBT will allow you to work on healthy coping skills, necessary to begin dealing with life on life’s terms.

Your therapy team will work with you on active goals and strategies deigned to fit your needs. We focus on providing structure and emphasizing direct plans of action. CBT is collaborative and educational. You will work with  groups to identify stress or other triggers, and pick up the skills you need to overcome them, free from drugs or alcohol.

Part of addiction treatment is planning for long term recovery. Your team will work with you on strategies to prevent a relapse and start thriving after treatment. Each part of therapy will give you the strength you need to carry on.

At the earliest stages, we help you identify potential obstacles, and provide you with the resources you will need to conquer any setbacks, and continue on the path to recovery. In outpatient treatment you have the opportunity to begin exploring the world without drugs or alcohol, and our support will address a healthy approach to long term success.
